A tool to understand the stock itself : Screener.in

Why use a screening tool?

There are two things you want to consider while analyzing a stock. One is the technicals and the other the fundamentals of it. For the technicals, I have written a blogpost of how you can use the chartink.com site. In this post, I will explain how to analyze the fundamentals of the stock using screener.in.

Screener. in is available in both free and premium versions. The free version is sufficient and should be good enough for us. Let’s get into how to use the site.

How to use Screener.in?

Once you login, you will see a page as shown below. To the top right, you will see a text box to search for a company. Here you can type in the company name. Let’s take the example of Avanti feeds. I will leave it to you to figure out how to register 🙂

Once you enter the company name, you should see a page with a dashboard comprising the company details. Don’t worry, if you don’t see all the information that is in this image. All you need to do is click on the ‘Edit Ratios’ blue hyperlink as seen in the below image and you can define the ratios you want to look at.

Just like this summary about the company, there are many other sections below this section such as stock chart, pros and cons of the company, peers comparison, quarterly results, Profit & loss for the previous years, Balance sheet, cash flows, Ratios, shareholding pattern and all available public documents, annual reports and concall reports.

To start with, you can keep it simple and refer to the dashboard, the Sales and profit growth. This should be sufficient to pick quality companies and I will be covering this in detail in another post soon.

As you can see, you can find a lot of useful information for free about any company on this site. Don’t wait to get started!
